AAP Backs New ACIP Recommendation on Influenza Vaccine

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has updated its recommendations for flu vaccine administration this year, stating that children 6 months and older should not be vaccinated with the live attenuated influenza (aka. Flumist) due to lack of efficacy. The American Academy of Pediatrics agrees with this recommendation, stating children should be vaccinated with the injectable version of the flu vaccine for the 2016-2017 flu season. Hamden Pediatrics will not be providing Flumist this season. Our flu clinics will be announced shortly. If you have questions regarding this update, please feel free to contact us.
